The Aldridge-based business has completed a pump housing container for what is reputed to be the world's first-ever inflatable flow surfing ride called Surf-Air®.

Surf-Air® is the brainchild of Murphys Waves and has created the opportunity for everyone to get up and have a go at surfing.SJC provided the pump housing container for the ride and undertook detailed design and manufacture of the container element of the project, from customer concept drawings, including ventilation, pump mountings, framework and brackets.

Glasgow-based Murphys Waves has already sent the ride to locations in Spain and Italy.

Neil Walsh, project engineer at Murphys Waves, said: "The patented Surf-Air® is the world's first ever inflatable flow surfing ride.

"The ride requires absolutely no construction and can be inflated and made fully operational in only a few short hours, making it the perfect surfing attraction for water parks, campsites and shopping malls.

"S Jones designers quickly understood what we wanted and rose to the challenge magnificently, providing us with a quick and easily brandable solution for our customers. We found that working directly with the manufacturer made a key beneficial difference to the progress and final outcome of the project."

Les Newick, technical sales and design manager at S Jones Containers, said: "This was a fun project to work on but one with some serious design challenges.

"We are always delighted to be tasked to come up with solutions for yet another use of a container."

The flow of the ride is controllable to provide fun for all ages, and would-be beach boys can hone their skills surfing down the wave inflatable against the flow of water being pumped from the container under high pressure.

As well as mainstream container sales and hire, SJC's specialist design engineers use 3D CAD technology to transform containers into highly sophisticated containerised solutions for leisure, events and hospitality markets including for music festivals, nightclubs and, pop-up restaurants and cafes and housing.
