Mr Tate has joined the company – based at Broome near Stourbridge – in the newly-created role of head of film.

His credentials are impressive; he has created programming for broadcasters like The Discovery and National Geographic Channels, CNN and others, plus a vast array of projects for clients as diverse as Virgin Media, No 7 Makeup, British Gypsum and United Biscuits.

Top Banana MD Nick Terry said of the move: "We wanted to further expand our expertise in this area to cater for the increased demand for film from our clients.

"Simon will be spearheading the development of our existing in-house capability to deliver moving image projects that deliver tangible results in this highly visual age."

In addition to his commercial portfolio, Mr Tate also released a feature film in 2011 (The Point of Regret) and his second (Weapon) is due for release later this year.

Nick Terry added: "We're excited to have someone with such fantastic expertise on board. The appetite for film is growing massively and we're now well placed to cater for that demand."

Also new to Top Banana is Andrew Mossop, who joins as client services director in the company's rapidly expanding London office where he will lead the team in servicing the company's growing client base and developing new relationships.

He has spent over 20 years running event agencies in London and Asia, delivering projects in 28 countries for clients including MasterCard, Omega and Chanel.

The arrival of Mr Moissop and Mr Taten nudges the team to just over 50 across Top Banana's London and Midland offices.
