The Mayor of Walsall has formally opened the newly refurbished offices of 130-year old law firm Enoch Evans in the heart of the town.

The new facilities are intended to ensure the firm can expand its operation even further over the next few years.

At the opening of the offices at St Paul's Chambers, Councillor Angela Underhill, the Mayor said: "I'm delighted to see one of our older buildings being refurbished and put to such good use by Enoch Evans. There's already a big team here and by the look of it, even more room to grow."

Enoch Evans is one of the Black Country's longest established law firms – and a significant local employer.

The firm currently employs more than 40 lawyers, who assist private, commercial and corporate clients. Its legal team is supplemented by a strong support team.

Enoch Evans has worked hard to invest in local talent and the firm's spacious new offices give them the potential to go on growing – and go on creating more jobs for local people.

The grand opening in the presence of the Mayor was a bit of a back-to-the-future moment. The firm's founder, Enoch Evans, also served as Mayor of Walsall in 1921 and maintained strong connections with Walsall throughout his life.

He was even described as one of Walsall's outstanding personalities. His firm has operated from Walsall from its inception in 1884 – and, no matter how much it grows, Enoch Evans says it will always have its home in the town.

Even after more than 130 years in business, there's still an Evans at the head of the firm. Managing partner, David Evans is the great grandson of the founder.

While the firm has grown tremendously, David Evans is still looking ahead, saying:

He said:"This is a proud moment for Enoch Evans. This development allows us to grow in line with our ambitions to build on our already excellent reputation to provide quality legal support for the residents of Walsall and beyond."
