Delivery firms celebrates 25 years
Tipton-based logistics company, Active Carriers, is celebrating 25 years in business following a period of significant growth for the company.
In order to meet the growing demand for its services in the West Midlands, Active Carriers has invested £250,000 in its facilities and equipment on Coneygree Industrial Estate.
The investment has helped open a new office and has added a 10,000 sq ft warehouse to enable pallets to be processed for distribution.
The company, which employs more than 45 people, has also strengthened its fleet with the addition of a new double decker trailer for trunking and an 18 tonne HGV truck for collections and deliveries.
It now has more than 30 vehicles operating across 20 European countries.
Stewart Pitt, general manager at Active Carriers said: "Our 25th anniversary represents a significant milestone for us as we reinforce our position as a leader in the distribution of palletised freight.
"I'd like to thank all our hard-working staff and customers. We owe our success to them."
Active Carriers was established in 1990 by brothers Mark and Paul Adams. In 1994, the company became a member of Palletways, Europe's largest and fastest growing express palletised freight network, which opened up access to a network of over 400 strategically placed depots across the UK and Europe.
The company moved to its current base in Tipton in 1999, which had been specially designed for the handling and distribution of palletised freight.
December 2012 saw another 7,000 sq ft added the warehouse and the UK operations allowing the company to offer warehousing and a pick and pack service.
The company now services more than 200 customers in the West Midlands area.
