Brindley still investing for the future

Long-established Black Country garage group Brindley has embarked on a new chapter after a £2 million investment in a new state-of-the-art operations centre.

It is based on the five-acre former Sandvik site at Featherstone, just outside of Wolverhampton, and houses Brindley's recently expanded fleet and leasing department as well as the company's training centre and marketing department.

Brindley Garages Group, founded 84 years ago, has designed the site with its fleet customers in mind and aims to offer "unparalleled levels of service" at Featherstone.

Brindley's fully equipped pre-delivery inspection workshop will process the 10,000 vehicles the company aims to pass through the department each year, as fleet and leasing manager, Clive Jackson, explained: "We have five ramps in our PDI workshop, as well as a five tonne ramp that allows us to deal with vans of any size – our dedicated PDI team are highly skilled and extremely efficient."

In-line with the current demand for hybrid and electric cars, Brindley has installed numerous charging points at the centre as well as a 10,000 litre diesel tank for pre-fueling standard vehicles.

"We've created an industry-leading facility here at Featherstone that allows us to meet the demands of companies operating a fleet of anything from one to several hundred vehicles," said Mr Jackson.

Impressively storage is available for 600 cars – including 200 indoor spaces – and thanks to the sheer size of site, Brindley says it can easily meet the demands of big fleets.

"Our entire operation can be scaled up to suit the requirements of our clients," said Mr Jackson. "There's plenty of room for growth and expansion, so the site will undoubtedly meet our needs for a long time to come.

"Everything from plate-making to taxation is handled here at the operations centre. Having one, central location makes the running of each aspect of the company so much easier."

With the high value of vehicles and equipment on the site at Featherstone, security has been a top consideration; there are electric fences spanning the entire perimeter, as well as a security office that's manned 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"Our business sector clientele is increasing rapidly and we're enjoying meeting their needs. We're really proud of what we can offer clients and welcome anyone to come and view the site.," Mr Jackson said.

Brindley's operations director, Chris Adams, added: "In recent years the Brindley Group has expanded greatly and increased both its number of fleet and retail car sales.

"Space at any dealership is always at a premium and the opportunity to create a single, central new car storage and preparation centre allows us to free-up more space for our customers when they visit our sites. Training is high on the agenda here at Brindley, that's why we're very excited about having the training and marketing department, as well as several specialised meeting rooms on-site.

"This will ensure that our staff are able to deliver a great experience for all of our customers whenever they visit or contact any of our locations."

In all the pre-delivery inspection workshops will prepare around 15,000 new cars each year.

Group chairman Robin Brindley said: "The business was established back in 1931. Since then the company has grown and expanded into the successful organisation it is today thanks to our diligent staff and the great service that we offer to our customers. Brindley Garages has always been a strong investor in both the local area and in local people and will continue to be so in the future."

He continued: "Our latest venture reflects the success of the business and enables us to move forward, meeting the demands of our ever changing business and enabling us to build on our long history, whilst ensuring the best service for every one of our customers."
