Family business invests in new machines
An Aldridge family business that makes hinges and hardware has invested in two new machines to increase capacity.
Cooke Brothers produces a core brand of precision hinge products and its wide range of manufacturing facilities also includes 3-D CAD engineering design, in-house testing facilities, product development and high volume production services.
The company, originally from Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter , has a history spanning more than 140 years. Cooke Brothers aims to provide clients with a complete service from original concept through to finished product. In order to meet customers increasing expectations for a fast, reliable and efficient turnaround of orders, the company has recently increased its manufacturing capacity with the addition of a Trumpf TruMatic 6000 laser punch press and the latest model Trumpf 5000 series CNC TruBend press-brake.
Managing director Philip Cooke said "Many of our customers are looking to achieve their sheet metal hinge or pressed component solution without significant tooling costs. Using a combination of our flexible tooling systems and CNC combined laser cutting and forming equipment we can offer our customers a cost effective solution, even on small batch requirements. This has also extended our manufacturing facilities, allowing small fabrications to be produced, such as vision panels for the architectural ironmongery marketplace."
To demonstrate the company's commitment to providing customers with a complete range of bespoke technical services, the highly experienced technical development team has recently been strengthened with the appointment of Rajan Sudera as technical sales engineer.
Mr Sudera holds a first class honours degree in engineering design and manufacturing processes and his role in the company is primarily to liaise with customers on all technical issues, whilst actively working alongside clients in the design and development of new products.
