Law firm Enoch Evans celebrates 130 years
A law firm founded in the Victorian era is celebrating its 130th year in the wake of a major merger that created Walsall's biggest firm of solicitors.

From humble beginnings in 1884 Enoch Evans solicitors has become a dominant force in the area providing legal services to businesses and individuals. The firm still operates under the name of its founder, former Walsall Mayor Enoch Evans, and since its foundation has always been situatedremains in the heart of the town.
Following its merger with Addison O'Hare last year, the firm became the largest provider of legal services in Walsall but says its ethos is the same today as it was on the first day in 1884. It now has around 40 lawyers and a staff of more than 70 and handles corporate work ranging from PLCs to owner-operated businesses - not just in Walsall but further afield - as well as matrimonial and family work.
Enoch Evans says it has survived several recessions by demonstrating a willingness to embrace technology to assist the provision of services to clients and by adapting to changes in the business landscape.
Managing partner David Evans - great grandson of the founder - said: "The major change to our approach is the speed in which now we have to provide legal services. Technology has not only changed our resources but also the way that we work with businesses that approach us. We continually develop our use of technology to provide an efficient and complete service to our clients".
The firm's first offices were in Bridge Street, next door to Walsall's first cottage hospital, but its growth has seen Enoch Evans now based at St Paul's Chambers in Hatherton Road.
