Steel firm creates plaques for Scout groups
A Wolverhampton steel business has created two large plaques for the new home for the 31st Sutton Coldfield and 3rd Streetly Scouts, in Walsall.
The famous fleur-de-lis logo of the Scout Association has been put in place on gates at the site.
Steelway Fensecure, a leading manufacturer of specialised steel fabrications, did the laser cutting and powder coating.
The firm is a client of the Midlands office of national audit, tax and advisory firm Crowe Clark Whitehill, whose managing partner Johnathan Dudley is an assistant cub scout leader.
Fundraising is in progress to raise the estimated £500,000 for a new headquarters on Aldridge Road in Streetly after the purchase of land from pub group Marston's and the obtaining of planning consent from Walsall Council. Previous headquarters have been local schools.
Walter Karpynec, finance director of Steelway Fensecure said: "Steelway Fensecure are happy to help the Sutton Coldfield and Walsall scouts in their endeavour to establish a new headquarters site. We have used our specialised steel fabrication skills and laser technology to provide the site entrance of new headquarters with its own unique identity, featuring two large fleur-de-lis logos."
Mr Dudley said: "Crowe Clark Whitehill is committed to developing young people, as it is they who will be the accountants and clients of the future.
"We believe in the Scout movement, which encourages continuous personal development for individuals of all abilities and regardless of race or creed, bringing through rounded youngsters for future recruitment and development of the UK economy into the next generation.
The council requested that gates be erected to secure the site and identify it as being the Scouts' new HQ. That has now been achieved. We would very much like to thank Steelway Fensecure for their support."
Donations of materials have also been made by local businesses while Crowe Clark Whitehill advised on the project and provided some VAT work free of charge.
Crowe Clark Whitehill is also assisting the group in putting together business plans for funding and is providing other related advice.
