New boss takes over at car seats firm Cab Auto

Growing Tipton automotive products business Cab Automotive has appointed a new managing director.

Richard Semmens will take over from chairman Brian Miles, who is currently acting MD.

Previous MD John Faulkner, who is still on the board, switched to concentrating on the manufacturing side of the operation at Vaughan Trading Estate in Sedgley Road East about eight months ago.

Finance director Richard McCulloch said Cab had sindce been looking to strengthen its board because of its recent growth.

He said Mr Semmens would be taking up his post in March.

He is joining from the Caparo Group of Companies where he was MD of the fasteners division. Prior to Caparo Richard was MD of Trelleborg Industrial where he worked for more than 10 years.

He brings a wealth of leadership and operational management experience to the Company. He will be reporting to the Cabauto Group board and will be responsible for taking Cab Automotive to the next stage of its evolution.

Cab, which has Bentley, Jaguar Land Rover and Aston Martin among its customers, is on course to achieve turnover of £40 million this year - a doubling from the £20m it achieved in 2012.

The company, which now employs more than 240, took on 100 extra staff last year. It makes car seats and trims and invested £2m in new plant and machinery after winning £15m of new contracts running until 2015.
