The popular presenter is set to return to her work with her Channel 5 series The Gadget Show at the weekend after her ordeal eight weeks ago.

The 38-year-old former model from Finchfield, whose parents Tony and Irene still live in the city, almost died while awaiting treatment after being rushed to West Middlesex Hospital on February 17.

She and her Dutch fiancé, Bastien Boosten, had been overjoyed to discover she was expecting their first child. But just weeks later she developed the condition.

In an exclusive interview with the Express & Star, Suzi described how she endured agony for two hours and lost four pints of blood before receiving treatment.

The former Smestow School pupil, who now lives in London but also shares a home in France with her fiancé, was seven or eight weeks pregnant when she developed the condition in which the baby grows outside the womb.

The TV host she how she collapsed before getting the attention of a gynaecological team, who then had to rush her to the scan unit because it was due to close for the day.

"I was frightened. I wanted the world to stop but I also knew we were running out of time.

"When I came round I was flat on my back, staring at a light, and I honestly thought I was dead. I remember feeling aggrieved."

After undergoing an emergency operation, Suzi had to have a blood transfusion and spent five days in hospital. She has been assured that she should still be able to conceive.

In the eight weeks since her ordeal, she said her recovery has been extremely slow and painful, but added: "My head and heart are in a good place."

Suzi, who is back at home in France, is due to fly back tomorrow for rehearsals for the Gadget Show Live at Birmingham's NEC on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

An avid Wolves fan, she once worked as a lighting technician at the city's Grand Theatre while at school. She was god-daughter of the late former Whitesnake guitarist Mel Galley, of Cannock, and broke into TV by covering the World Superbike championships for Sky, later switching to BBC when it took over the coverage.

She has also appeared on City Hospital, Superstars with Johnny Vaughan, took the Anneka Rice role in Treasure Hunt, and was on the Saturday Lottery show with Des O'Connor.

Suzi was married to Steve Bullock, a model from Sheffield, for four years. She met Bastien while filming the Gadget Show.

Suzi is also patron of Wolverhampton wish-making charity Promise Dreams along with former Wolves stars Steve Bull and Don Goodman.

She takes part in the charity's Run For Dreams event to help raise funds for the charity, which is based in Wolverhampton and grants wishes for seriously-ill children around the country.
