'Too early' for Nouha Dicko's Wolves first team return

It is 'too early' for returning Wolves striker Nouha Dicko to feature in the first team, boss Walter Zenga has said.

The 24-year-old has made five appearances for the under-23 side since recovering from his cruciate knee ligament injury.

Dicko scored and played 80 minutes against Middlesbrough earlier this week, raising hopes he may soon be involved in the first team.

Zenga said: "We make a programme with him, I speak with him weekly.

"After one year that he's far from the games, he needs to work with the under-23s, play some games of 90 minutes, try to give him continuity which is important because it's more than one year.

"I spoke with him last week and we are in our schedule. He knows when we have to try and bring him back in the first team. Now, it's too early.

"But it's a pleasure for us and also for him, he's feeling more happy with the goal, back on the pitch, playing 90 minutes, it's nice."

Meanwhile Zenga has spoken of his delight at Danny Batth committing his future to Wolves.

Skipper Batth signed a new four-year contract at Molineux this week and Zenga said it sent a great sign to the rest of the club, as well as revealing that he doesn't believe Wolves should be signing large numbers of players in every transfer window.

"We are delighted because he's our captain and a very important player for us," the Wolves boss said.

"This means we are looking for stability. We don't want every six months to change 10 players, because you never arrive where you want to arrive.

"You have to create one strong, compact group of people with a nice mentality.

"With the signing of our captain, we're going to sign other players.

"It's a good thing for everybody, either outside of the club. If you change six or seven players every six months, when the transfer window is open, you cannot arrive.

"Instead if you create a group of 15/16 and then every time you put inside a couple of players where you have spots, it's going to be better.

"We want to have something and bring back the club where it deserves to be.

"Danny Batth signing for four years delights us and gives a good signal for everybody.

"It means he believes in the job, or in the project of the club."
