Burton defender banned after clash with Wolves' Paul Gladon
Burton Albion defender Kyle McFadzean has been banned for three games after elbowing Wolves striker Paul Gladon during the team's clash at Molineux on Saturday.
The FA has retrospectively punished the Brewers skipper with a violent conduct charge after viewing video evidence.
Burton admitted the charge but argued that a three-match ban was excessive - an argument that an independent panel rejected.
McFadzean caught Gladon on the back of the head with his elbow after the pair jostled in an off-the-ball incident.
Referee James Adcock didn't blow for a foul, but Wolves reported it to the officials after the match.
In a statement the FA said: "Kyle McFadzean will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect after he was charged with violent conduct.
"The Burton Albion player was involved in a 40th minute incident during the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.
"The charge was admitted but the club submitted a claim that the standard punishment of three matches would be clearly excessive.
"This, however, was rejected following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today."
The 29-year-old defender joined Burton from MK Dons in the summer and his ban starts immediately, meaning he misses their game away at Fulham on Tuesday evening.
McFadzean also misses games against Brighton at home and Norwich away.
