Kenny Jackett says he's concerned at any impact a lack of signings will have on Wolves' season.

With signings on hold until a takeover is completed, Wolves are just over three weeks away from the start of the season with only one new signing - goalkeeper Andy Lonergan - to show for their summer dealings.

A consortium led by Chinese internet mogul Robin Li is believed to have lodged official documents with the English Football League as they undergo due diligence ahead of a sale.

And when finally completed it's expected Julen Lopetegui will replace Jackett as boss.

But for the here and now Jackett is worried about preparing his squad as best he can for the new campaign.

And as the line-up for Saturday's behind-closed-doors friendly against Shrewsbury on Saturday showed, there are many gaps to fill in the current squad.

They have missed out on a host of summer targets so far.

Nick Powell joined Wigan, Ashley Fletcher has gone to West Ham, QPR have snapped up Jake Bidwell and Idrissa Sylla is set to stay at Anderlecht.

"Of course it's a concern," Jackett told the Express & Star.

"You need to be ready.

"Every few days things get closer to the start of the season.

"There are very few sides that have a poor August and September and then turn it around.

"In all of the leagues the only side that did it last year was Barnsley. You have a chance late May but you can be working during that period and hopefully planning early.

"Squad planning in the summer is vital and everybody at Wolves is aware of that.

When you're looking at seven games in August if we beat Crawley in the League Cup.

"And competition is important.

"It's no coincidence that when you have two good players for one position you get a good performance out of them.

"Throughout the season we'll pick up injuries so at this particular stage you need a balanced squad, then you can start to look forward to the fixtures with optimism."The key people are the ones selling the club and the ones buying it. They'll be as aware as anybody of that situation."

Reports emerged last night that chief executive Jez Moxey will survive the proposed takeover and remain at the club.
