Wolves Julen Lopetegui manager rumours intensify as Kenny Jackett takes training

Reports continue to persist in Spain that Julen Lopetegui will imminently takeover as the next manager of Wolves as early as next week.

The suggestions are that Wolves could be taken over by Chinese billionaire Robin Li, who it is claimed would then appoint Lopetegui as Wolves coach.

Lopetegui is a former FC Porto coach who is currently out of work, but has most recently been linked as a potential successor to outgoing Spain boss Vicente del Bosque.

Reports first emerged yesterday in high profile Spanish newspapers AS and Marca.

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey issued a statement yesterday afternoon saying rumours were simply 'speculation.' Sources close to Wolves initially rubbished the rumours when contacted by the Express & Star yesterday.

Moxey said in the statement, "Whilst there is ongoing dialogue, there is nothing we are able to report...when we have an update, we will give it as soon as is practicable, but until then any rumour and speculation is simply that."

Further claims from Spanish football journalists emerged today further intensifying speculation that Lopetegui could be installed at Molineux by early next week.

However, Wolves insisted it was business as usual today and Kenny Jackett had taken pre-season training at Compton.

No announcement has been made about Kenny Jackett's future or a potential new owner.
