All proceeds raised from the game, including from ticket sales and a host of other activities, will go towards the Sir Jack statue fund.

It will cost £250,000 to build the statue - which will be housed by the entrance to the subway opposite where the old Wanderer pub used to stand.

A fan campaign to fund it was launched earlier this year.

Chief executive Jez Moxey announced the tribute game at Tuesday evening's end of season awards.

Moxey said: "There was no greater supporter of this fine club, and a greater supporter of the supporters, than the late Sir Jack Hayward and we miss him dearly

"This summer's pre-season match will be a Sir Jack tribute game where all proceeds raised will go to the statue fund."

So far £1,600 has been raised on an online donation website - www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sirjackhayward

Fans also had an option to donate when they renewed their season tickets.

The opposition for the Molineux fixture has not been announced.

In recent years Wolves have lined up against a host of Spanish teams in their traditional pre-season curtain raiser.

Before the visit of Aston Villa ahead of the 2015/16 season, they faced Celta Vigo, Real Betis, Real Zaragoza, Athletic Bilbao and Real Valladolid, a run stretching back to 2008 when they hosted then-Premier League side Blackburn Rovers.
