The 31-year-old was recalled by Newcastle United this week owning to an injury to Jamaal Lascelles – leaving Wolves desperately short of defensive cover.

Ironically Williamson is now out of Newcastle's game against Liverpool this weekend after tweaking a hamstring in training.

But before his injury he took the time to discuss his successful loan at Wolves, in which he helped keep three clean sheets in five matches.

"My time at Wolves was fantastic, it was a good opportunity and it was a very good fit," Williamson told NUTV.

"I was really enjoying myself, it is a great club, players are very good – a real togetherness, and I like the manager who was fantastic – to work with him and learn from him.

"In a way I was enjoying it but if I'm going to come back to play, then this is where I want to be, in the Premier League."

Of the Wolves defence, he added: "They are a young group and a lot of potential there. I think I brought communication, a bit of experience. We were very solid and performances growing each game."

Williamson is out of contract at St James' Park next summer and after his brief but prolific spell many Wolves fans will hope to see him wearing gold and black again before long.
