Wolves boss Kenny Jackett has called for his team to start climbing the table – beginning with Saturday's trip to Ipswich Town.

A lacklustre season so far sees Wolves marooned in 14th – nine points off the play-offs and six off the relegation zone.

After facing Mick McCarthy's Tractor Boys at Portman Road, they take on four teams below them in the current standings. And Jackett is demanding improvements from his side.

"We're really focusing on the weekend," he said. "It's an opportunity. We want to get up that table, we're lurking in the middle at the moment and that's about right for us, of where we've been standard-wise.

"It's a busy period. We're going to be doing everything we possibly can to climb up that table, whoever the opposition, whether it's a top team or not. Getting our team right and making sure it's as effective as possible is very important."

Wolves face MK Dons, Rotherham, Nottingham Forest and Leeds after Saturday,

Meanwhile, defender Mike Williamson – who this week extended his loan deal at Molineux until January 16 – believes that 'confidence and momentum' will help propel Wolves up the league.

The 31-year-old said: "Bristol City was a big disappointment and we know that, but I felt Birmingham and Burnley were both good performances.

"Hopefully we can maintain those levels and turn those performances into more wins.

"In terms of the talent in the squad I think it is better than the current league position. Sometimes it just needs that bit of confidence and momentum to start things off and start moving up the table.

"Ipswich will be an organised and well-drilled team.

"If we can defend like we have been we have a chance of getting three points."

Tickets still remain for the Portman Road clash.
