Midfielder Dave Edwards claims promotion to the Premier League would be sweeter than in 2009 – after hailing boss Kenny Jackett's 'miraculous' work at Wolves.

The 29-year-old attacking midfielder was part of the last Wolves side to get promoted to the top flight under Mick McCarthy six years ago.

But he believes it would be a better achievement this time around, as they aim to follow two straight relegations with two straight promotions.

Edwards, who remained at the club through their fall into League One, said: "I think it would be a better achievement.

"I'm not sure whether any team has ever had two relegations followed by two promotions like we're looking for."

"If you'd said the year we got relegated from the Championship that we'd be in this position in this timeframe everybody would have snapped your hand off.

"A lot of credit has to go to the manager and the staff for rebuilding the club and also to the chairman and the directors.

"The fans are now right behind the team and the players thoroughly enjoy playing here at Molineux. It's a hard place to come and we can use that to our advantage and have been.

"If we can pick up points away from home we'll be all right."

A run of four straight wins has seen Wolves finally force their way into the top six ahead of Saturday's derby at Birmingham City.

Edwards admits Jackett must take most of the credit for the dramatic turnaround in the club's fortunes.

The Wales international said: "It's been nothing short of miraculous really. If you look at all the academy players who are now in the team and the squad, it's great to be in the position we're now in.

"He's got to take a lot of credit for blooding those players. And he's rebuilt the relationship with the fans, which was not where it should have been after that relegation.

"It's a great place to be, at the moment."
