Kenny Jackett's side made it three straight wins with Saturday's 1-0 victory at Cardiff and 13 goals scored in their last five since switching to a 4-4-2 formation, four of which have been won.

Stearman, who was Man of the Match against the Bluebirds in the Championship after making two goal-line clearances.

And he believes the pace and power threat of match-winner Bakary Sako, who took his tally to four goals in three games and 11 this season, Benik Afobe, Nouha Dicko, Rajiv Van La Parra and James Henry mark Wolves out as a side to fear.

Stearman said: "We've proved that in the last few games - we're scoring a lot of goals, and on the whole, our counter-attacking football is going to frighten the life out of any opposition we play at the moment.

"We're managing to soak up the threats that the opposition are posing and counter-attacking ruthlessly and it's going well for us at the moment."

Saturday's win moved Wolves to within two points of the play-off zone and with 12 games left, Stearman is convinced Jackett's side can make the top six.

The 27-year-old said: "We believe it's possible - very much so. We didn't perform particularly well against Norwich, but we've bounced back.

"With three superb performances and picked up some good points and we're right back in the hunt."

Stearman's two blocks were two of three with one from Kortney Hause and the former Leicester stopper believes Cardiff were more of a threat with 10 men.

It came after the dismissal of Peter Whittingham, when they launched it long aiming for the head of Kenwyne Jones.

He said: "I managed to get something on it to head it off the line at the end but it wasn't my defending, it was a collective team effort.

"Cardiff looked a lot more of a threat going down to 10 men and they really bombarded us at the end but we stood firm and got a vital three points.

"But I think we stood up to it well and we got a valuable three points."
