Dave Edwards: Wolves can still win the title
Goal-getter Dave Edwards today insisted Wolves can win the Championship if they continue their current form.
Saturday's 2-0 win against Blackpool saw Kenny Jackett's side remain eighth but they are only a point off the play-off zone, with a six-point gap to ninth-placed Sheffield Wednesday.
Victory at the weekend made it six games unbeaten in the league for Wolves, with five wins and just two goals conceded.
And in-form Edwards, who took his tally to four in three games on Saturday and six for the season, is convinced Wolves can repeat their 2008-09 title win.
He said: "We just need to keep winning and I'm sure we'll be up there come the end of the season.
"The last time we were promoted from the Championship we had that little wobble in January-February time.
"We like to think we've had our wobble now – we had our dismal run in November. We've reacted really well to that by winning games, playing good football, scoring goals and keeping clean sheets.
"That's the mantra at the football club and I really think we can get up there. We're not far off the top either – eight points – but from February onwards you can easily pick up 10 points on teams.
"But we can't get carried away and we have to get three points against Charlton on Saturday.
"All the teams above us did well apart from Derby who lost but we're creating a gap behind us now."
Edwards believes it's only a matter of time before Wolves return to the top six.
He said: "We're on a very good run and we all said if we win these two games – Blackpool and Charlton – we'll be back in the top six.
The midfielder held his black armband up to the fans after scoring and revealed his pride at netting in the emotional game that saw Molineux honour Sir Jack Hayward.
Edwards added: "It was always in my mind to do a tribute if I scored and that was the first thing I thought of. He made the club a force again."
