Boss Kenny Jackett has urged Wolves to keep their temper to prevent derby passions boiling over against Birmingham City.

Wolves-Blues collisions tend to be feisty affairs and the Molineux men have seen two of their strikers' seasons ended against their Small Heath neighbours in recent years – Chris Iwelumo and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.

Former Albion warhorse Paul Robinson, whose challenge ended Ebanks-Blake's Wolves career, is in line to return to Molineux to play tomorrow.

And Jackett wants his players to keep their cool in the heat of battle in tomorrow's televised showdown.

"Our aim is to be competitive but be in control," said the head coach.

"There's no point going down to 10 men on a regular basis or players getting booked to be consistently suspended. It's similar with injuries.

"You have a better chance if you have controlled aggression.

"If you can get that balance between the two you'll make better decisions – but it shouldn't be at the loss of passion, effort and commitment.

"There are various games that can be fiery and you have to stand up, not get walked over but also be aware of keeping 11 players on the pitch."

Jackett felt Wolves' players initially struggled against a partisan crowd of almost 28,000 at Elland Road last weekend before getting to grips with the atmosphere.

And he feels his side can use what is expected to be Molineux's biggest crowd of the season tomorrow to continue the Championship's best home record.

"We want to start well but show commitment, passion, a good attitude, and if it goes wrong then a sense of purpose," he said.

Wolves will go top for a couple of hours if they draw or win but Jackett is more concerned about anyone stealing a march on them.

"The incentive for us is nobody is streets ahead of us," he said.

"Then we must ensure sides don't pull away and make it so our players and supporters are looking at it as we're one of the also-rans of the division."
