The 25-year-old centre-back, who still has two years on his Molineux contract, is still in discussion with the Danish club to try to agree a compromise on his deal after Wolves refused a loan extension.

"We are still talking with FC Copenhagen," said the player's agent Mario Weger.

"The thing is that he still has two years left on his contract in Wolverhampton and he gets a good salary there.

"So it's really about whether to take over the Wolverhampton contract or find another solution.

"That's what we're talking about. It depends on his personal conditions of the transfer fee they'll agree.

"Georg is also willing to take a pay cut. He's not greedy but it is not easy to find a solution because FC Copenhagen has a much lower budget."

Margreitter featured 19 times for the Danish giants last season under Stale Solbakken, who signed him for Wolves for £500,000 from Austria Vienna in July 2012.

The stopper is one of eight senior Wolves players due back from loan spells this summer with Roger Johnson, Stephen Ward, Kevin Doyle, Kevin Foley, Tongo Doumbia and Razak Boukari, with Bjorn Sigurdarson at Molde until November.

Doyle is set to play his final game on loan for QPR at Wembley in tomorrow's Championship play-off final against Derby.

Winger Zeli Ismail, one of six Wolves youngsters who were out on loan, is due to play his final appearance on loan for Burton Albion in the League Two play-off final against Fleetwood at Wembley on Monday.
