Wolves earn £135,000 in TV revenue
Wolves might be record-breaking League One champions – but they are paupers when it comes to this season's TV revenue.
Yesterday's release of payments to Premier League clubs shows a huge contrast between the top flight and League One.
While Albion earned £8.648m from their nine live screenings this season and Villa £13.05m from their 16 appearances, Wolves earned just £135,000 for their five slots before the cameras.
That's because while Premier League clubs are paid up to £1m per live match screened, League One clubs receive just £30,000 as the home team and £10,000 as the visiting side.
The lowest figure paid to top-flight clubs for live appearances over the season is £8.648m, of which Albion were one of eight clubs to receive that amount.
In the Capital One Cup first round, the figure is £75,000 for home and away teams, while in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy payments vary depending on the round, but in Wolves' case it was £10,000 for their second-round tie at home to Notts County, who were paid the same.
The breakdown of Wolves' live games payments are: Morecambe away, Capital One Cup £75,000, Crawley home League One £30,000, Notts County home JPT £10,000, Gillingham away League One £10,000 and Leyton Orient away League One £10,000.
Albion's broadcasting income and prize money amounted to £65.79m, which was an increase of £17.5m, Villa's was £72.67m - a rise of £27.7m - while Wolves trailed well behind with £16.14m, which was their £16m parachute payment plus live TV games.
