No soap opera at Wolves as Kenny Jackett casts eye over outcasts' future
Kenny Jackett today declared there will be no soap opera at Wolves this summer but accepts debates on the outcasts' futures could go on to mid-June.
Roger Johnson heads an expensive cast of eight senior players preparing to return to the club this summer from loans and who will be urged to seek pastures new.
Johnson, who has been on loan at West Ham, Stephen Ward (Brighton) and Kevin Doyle (QPR) lead the way after Kevin Foley (Blackpool) returned from temporary spells away, while Tongo Doumbia (Valenciennes), injury-hit Razak Boukari (Sochaux) and Georg Margreitter (FC Copenhagen) are due to finish their season-long spells elsewhere.
Bjorn Sigurdarson will remain at Molde until November, with a permanent deal in the offing if he does well.
"Roger Johnson did very well at Sheffield Wednesday," said Jackett.
"At the time he went to West Ham, Sheffield were very interested (in renewing the loan).
"That was the case with the current management as well.
"There's been no word from West Ham - there isn't on any of them.
"But from speaking to the people I work for, if we start on June 25, we could almost leave that until June 18 or 20th.
"If I assess the situation a week before we come back, I think then we'll have a clearer view."
Jackett admits determining the futures of the unwanted players as early as possible is the aim.
"It's to our advantage to accelerate the process because it makes it clearer for us," said the boss.
"If we could get a conclusion we'd be happy but it's also something we have to wait for, I suppose.
"It very much depends on how many come back and where they are individually."
O'Hara faces an uncertain summer after a year in which no one – apart from a three-day trial at Blackpool in January - has enquired about him.
"It will be interesting in terms of Jamie's own career what his future brings," said the boss.
"Jamie's played the vast majority of the Under-21 games and what the future brings for him is very much with the ball in his court.
"I've been genuinely surprised nobody has even given him a chance, because he has a lot of footballing ability."
O'Hara hasn't been at the club since last Friday and failed to attend the club's end of season awards dinner on Wednesday at Telford International Centre.
The £5m former Tottenham midfielder paid for himself to go on an intensive one-to-one fitness regime in Los Angeles in March with the club's agreement, to improve mobility.
But Jackett said he hadn't noticed any difference in him.
