Bakary Sako backing Wolves to fulfil Premier dream
Bakary Sako today insisted Wolves can grant him his Premier League dream as he tipped them to win back-to-back promotions.
Wolves are braced for fresh interest in the Mali winger, who has a year left on his contract, after he was joint top scorer with 13 goalsas the club stormed to the League One title.
This time last year Fulham and Nottingham Forest were interested in the 26-year-old wideman, who was one of five Wolves players named in the PFA League One team of the year.
Head coach Kenny Jackett is confident Sako, who has stated his ambition in coming to England was to play in the Premier, will only leave this summer if a top-flight club meets the asking price.
But Sako believes Wolves can emulate Norwich and Southamptonand win successive promotions to grant him his wish.
"I think this team can get better and better," he said. "In the last few years teams have managed to go back-to-back and get up to the Premier League and there's no reason why we can't aim for that.
"We'll have to work very hard to do that but we're ready for the challenge. We've played good football this season and the type of attacking football I like. It's enjoyable to play in a team like this so it's all good moving into next season."
He added: "It was a special day on Saturday. It was a great final day to lift the trophy and the fans were really happy.
"This time last year we'd gone down but now we're so happy to have finished first."
Sako has formed an excellent relationship with Jackett and credits the head coach with transforming the atmosphere in the dressing room.
"We've all worked hard to make it a great year and the team spirit has been very good," he said.
"I think a lot of that is down to the gaffer who made that work from when he came in.
"For me I've scored a lot of goals and had a lot of assists and I'm very pleased.
"It's not about me though – it's all about the team and teamwork and everyone has played a part."
