Kenny Jackett wants to bring in the crowds
Kenny Jackett today declared his ambition to keep 30,000 crowds at Wolves with good football.
Wolves were watched by gates of 30,110 and 29,829 in their last two home games as they stormed to the third-tier title with a string of records propelled by 17 wins out of the last 21 games.
Head coach Jackett wants to maintain the feelgood factor with 30,000 crowds the norm.
"We wanted to do well on Saturday so we have 30,000 people looking forward to next season," said Jackett.
"We want people saying: 'They're a good football side and we'll support them next season and we're looking forward to it.'
"The crowd of 30,000 will only react off what they see on the pitch.
"As long as we understand that and work very hard at doing the right things in football, then fine. The key to it is our performance on the pitch.
"Preparation does that, but that performance on the pitch on the day leads the club."
Jackett is keen to maintain the restored connection between fans and players.
"The fans responded fantastically well to myself personally and to this group of players," he said.
"But it's not something we should take for granted. It has to be earned every time we play.
"As well as playing, we must maintain our overall attitude around the local area and attend social and media events.
"People remember how you conduct yourselves. It's an awareness of what the football club means to the city.
It's a big focal point so we have a responsibility."
