Kenny Jackett urges Wolves to stay strong ahead of season run-in

Kenny Jackett today challenged Wolves to show the energy to last the pace and rise above the pressure of being 'targeted'.

Saturday's visit of play-off hopefuls Peterborough sees Wolves complete a gruelling sequence of nine games in 28 days.

Wolves have won five and drew two of those first eight, but despite the hectic schedule, they noticeably stepped up the pace in the second half of Tuesday's 0-0 draw at Stevenage.

Teams are trying to put pressure on Kevin McDonald whenever he gets the ball and Michael Jacobs has come in for similar treatment.

The head coach has no complaints and urged his players to rise to the challenge as word gets around about their strengths.

"I can't criticise because they didn't fall away and we got stronger in the second half and had the better of it," said Jackett.

"So our attitude and commitment was there against a very resolute side battling for their lives.

"We've had a terrific run and we've been playing fantastic football.

"You can see people targeting certain players in our side so it's up to us to make sure we came out the other side stronger."

This weekend the head coach faces the prospect of being without either of key wingers James Henry and Bakary Sako for only the second League game since Henry first joined, the other being the 1-1 draw at Tranmere on New Year's Day.

But strikers Liam McAlinden and Nouha Dicko suggested on Tuesday that the could fill the roles as they adapted to a 4-3-3 formation either side of Leon Clarke.

And, with untried youngster Eusebio Bancessi an option after being on the bench in midweek, Jackett feels there are options in the squad to cope with their probable joint absence.

"We've had a very settled team and with Henry and Sako in the wide areas and perhaps Michael Jacobs inside, they've been very good options," he said.

"The dynamics of that changed on Tuesday, but looking at the second half where Dicko and McAlinden started wide, it was still effective despite being two new ones.

"We created a lot of chances and we'd have loved to have put some of those away.

"The injuries are something we knew could happen at some stage - especially with Saturday's game being our ninth in 28 days - so it's a busy period for the whole division, not just us."
