Saturday's 1-0 win at stadium:mk made it 12 victories in the last 14 games for the League One leaders and left them needing just 10 points from their remaining seven games to clinch automatic promotion, with a 10-point gap over third-placed Leyton Orient with a game in hand.

But the main talking point was the gold and black army after 8,943 travelled to turn the ground into a mini Molineux.

The club's biggest following for a league game since 12,000 went to Albion in December 1990 helped set a new stadium record of 20,516 and a Dons new milestone for the highest away support, and head coach Jackett was full of appreciation for the fans.

"The fans made feel like a home game for us and that's a great testament to them," said Jackett.

"They backed us all the way through and the atmosphere at the end was fantastic and showed the potential of the club, which is considerable.

"I want to thank all our supporters who went because not only did they all make the journey, but they also drove us on to get that victory."

Substitute Liam McAlinden, a lifelong Wolves fan from Cannock, grabbed the only goal nine minutes from time to settle a poor contest.

Jackett said it was a fairytale, adding: "I'm delighted for Liam to get his first league goal for Wolves in front of those 9,000 away fans.

"He's a local lad and I was delighted for him - he's a young forward who I've got a lot of time for and that was a great moment for him.

"I felt we needed to change the emphasis in the last third of the game and made the changes."

Despite being six points clear, Jackett insisted they must remained focused on the next game, with basement side Stevenage away tomorrow night.

"We have a fantastic opportunity but we can only think about the next result," he said.

"We've got a game in hand (on Leyton Orient) which is at Stevenage tomorrow and they're fighting for their lives.

"We have to really concentrate on that and then see where we are.

"Our aim is promotion but we're not looking at the overall picture."
