Wayne Hennessey and Jamie O'Hara to wait for Wolves chance

Kenny Jackett today hinted Wolves outsiders Wayne Hennessey and Jamie O'Hara must continue to wait for their chance – at Molineux or elsewhere.

Hennessey has been benched since his refusal to play at Gillingham 13 days ago amid continued speculation that Crystal Palace will renew their interest and West Ham are set to bid.

O'Hara is currently sixth-choice central midfielder despite continuing to catch the eye with goals for the reserves.

"There hasn't been any interest in Wayne, but that may change over the next three weeks," said Jackett.

"With goalkeepers, interest from clubs can tail off - you get spells when no one needs another one, then maybe through an injury it comes back.

"It's different higher up the leagues because teams have two, sometimes three senior keepers.

"In the Championship now, all the keepers are recognised names."

While Jackett has forgiven Hennessey, he admits the Wales number one's error of judgement has allowed Aaron McCarey to stake his claim in the last two games, and he isn't about to drop him.

"Aaron's had two good games, he's done nothing wrong and deserves to keep his place at present," said the boss.

"That's what you forego if you don't play.

"Wayne's got to wait for his opportunity, and when it comes, take it."

O'Hara has scored in his last two games in front of the scouts – a stunner in the 3-1 defeat away to Manchester City Under-21s on Friday and in a 4-1 win over a Nike Academy on Tuesday.

But Jackett said: "There hasn't been any interest in Jamie since his week's trial at Blackpool.

"There were quite a few scouts watching against City, and it was an excellent goal - a left-foot shot from the edge of the box.

"I'd put him in without a doubt if our midfield needed him.

"He's fit and available for other teams if they want him or for us.

"But our midfield is quite strong: I like Jack Price, we played three in there on Saturday and two scored (Dave Edwards and Lee Evans) and Kevin McDonald is playing very well.

"So it's those four plus David Davis who came on, and Jamie has to get above good choices in good form."
