Wolves grant Dorus De Vries a free transfer

Wolves' clear-out continued today after they granted Dorus De Vries a free transfer with head coach Kenny Jackett admitting he can't keep four goalkeepers happy.

The 32-year-old shot-stopper, who has a year left on his contract, has held talks Dutch club Roda JC on Monday.

And the team from his homeland have promised him an answer by the end of this week. The return from injury of Wayne Hennessey and Carl Ikeme leaves De Vries in limbo.

He finished the season as No 1, while Aaron McCarey will be pushing hard after being called up for the full Republic of Ireland squad this summer.

De Vries has had two frustrating years after arriving on a free transfer from Swansea when they were promoted to the Premier League in 2011.

He has made just 20 appearances in all competitions, saw a move to Liverpool fall through last summer and had a bust-up with former boss Stale Solbakken in the winter.

Jackett said of De Vries: "De Vries has had some conversations with Roda and those discussions are ongoing."

Jackett admits he can't keep four goalkeepers, saying: "It's not going to happen – there's no way that's going to be the case.

"There's some competition, which is good for me, but for Aaron to get called up by the full Irish squad is good for him and the club.

"And going with my old Millwall goalkeeper David Forde, he has enjoyed that, as well as having the experience in League One last season with Walsall.

"It's been a good, positive period for him on a personal level. And it's good to see Wayne and Carl after their injuries both looking OK."
