The 20-year-old Frenchman, who can play wide or as a striker, signed in time to beat today's 5pm deadline and is available for Saturday's visit of Middlesbrough.

Dicko knows the Championship, having spent two loan spells with Blackpool over the last two seasons.

The former Strasbourg wideman played 22 games this season for the Tangerines, scoring five goals, but all but two of his appearances have come off the bench before he was recalled in January.

Last season he played 10 league games and scored four goals for the Bloomfield Road club, with six of those games as a late replacement.

He also came off the bench in Blackpool's losing play-off final against West Ham at Wembley in one of a further six appearances as a substitute, three in the play-offs and three in the FA Cup.

Dicko can provide cover for fellow Frenchman Bakary Sako, who has been ruled out for the season with a torn hamstring, and is expected to figure in Dean Saunders' squad for the Boro clash.

Paris-born Dicko made his debut in England for Wigan in a 3-1 Carling Cup defeat at Crystal Palace in September 2011 and has made four appearances for the Latics, all in the cups, starting once.

Dicko becomes Dean Saunders' second deadline day signing after Slovakia international goalkeeper Marian Kello.
