Wolves still right choice says Dorus De Vries

Dorus De Vries today insisted he has no regrets about swapping Swansea for Wolves – despite relegation.
The Dutch keeper faces a possible backlash from Swansea fans tomorrow after saying he was joining a club who expected to stay in the Premier League as opposed to one hoping to avoid the drop.
Relegation means that has backfired on the 31-year-old, who has also spent all season in the shadows of first-choice Wayne Hennessey and only made his top-flight debut in Sunday's 2-0 defeat against Manchester City that confirmed the drop.
"I made my decision based on things at the time," said De Vries. "It was the right choice despite the outcome at the moment.
"I've been asked 'did you make the right choice?' by a lot of people. Looking back, there's only one answer to that, but looking back at the day I signed, yes it was the right choice.
"Wolves were more established in the Premier League at the time.
"It's easy to look later on – but I don't have a magic wand and no-one can predict the future.
"Look at Villa, they've been dragged into a relegation battle while no-one would have said Swansea and Norwich would be where they are now.
"I always thought Swansea with their style would be more suited to playing at Premier League level. But at the time I signed, I had a good feeling about this place.
"There are no ifs – I can't turn back the clock and at the time it felt the right choice. I'm sticking with that."
De Vries admits he may have compromised goodwill of Swansea fans and doesn't mind if he is booed. "If they boo me, it wouldn't change a great four years there," he added.
