Wolves debutant David Davis today revealed his determination to keep his place against Manchester United this Sunday.

The 21-year-old midfielder's impressive Premier League bow was one of the few highlights of Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Blackburn.

Now he wants to experience the feeling again when the champions pitch up at Molineux on Sunday.

"It was quite surreal at first, going out on to the pitch and soaking up the atmosphere," said Smethwick-born Davis.

"I just thought to myself: 'This is where I want to be for the next how many years'.

"It was a great occasion for me and hopefully the first of many.

"It's a lot faster and a lot more physical. The tempo was very high. It's a big step up. It was different to League One and the SPL (Scottish Premier League) but I thought I did alright.

"Hopefully I can impose myself in training because there's a big game on Sunday.

"I have to train my hardest and give TC (boss Terry Connor) a bit of thought towards having me involved against Manchester United."

Davis, who was substituted with cramp after 74 minutes, was rubbing shoulders with the elite just a week after being recalled from his loan at League One Chesterfield.

"It's all pretty mad. It shows how football can change," he said. "One week, I was playing against Charlton and Tranmere in League One, then I'm up against Blackburn in the Premier League. It's what everyone dreams of and it's where I want to be."

Davis believes the fact that most of the squad have achieved survival before will help him.

"Most of the squad have done it twice before, so they know what's needed," he said.

"The experience of the other lads will rub off on people like me who have just come in."

Davis was aware of the crowd being on his side.

"Everyone was reassuring me before the game and saying the fans would be behind me," he said.

"It was nice to hear and there was some clapping when I made my first pass."
