Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey has set himself the target of being a Premier League ever-present to see off the latest challenge to his No 1 spot.

The Wales international reclaimed his place last November after a year playing second fiddle to Marcus Hahnemann.

Now the 24-year-old has more threats to his place in new recruit Dorus De Vries and fit-again Carl Ikeme.

But Hennessey wants to emulate his 2007-08 record when he played in every Championship game in the Premier League.

He said: "I felt really good last season. When I did get into the team I thought I did well and hopefully I can continue like that.

"I managed to play 24 league games which was good and my aim now is to play for a whole season.

"We all set ourselves targets as players and try to reach them and it's all about trying to improve all the time.

"I'm still only 24 and have played nearly 150 games for Wolves which is good.

"I still think I have more to come and it's just good to be back and looking forward to another season."

But the Anglesey-born goalkeeper realises he has to stay on his toes after the arrival of 30-year-old De Vries, who will replace Hahnemann after being a virtual ever present for Swansea for four years.

Hennessey said: "Marcus has gone since last season so I dropped him a text to wish him well.

"Dorus has settled in well. He's a very good keeper and we've also got Carl back fit again which is great.

"As a goalkeeping unit we're very tight and very close and whoever plays we all want the best for them.

"Dorus is another good addition and we always seem to have had very good goalkeepers whether in the Championship or the Premier League."
