Wolves target Matt Mills' future could become clearer today following a series of meetings.

Mills' agent is due to discuss his client's options with Reading director of football Nicky Hammond.

But there is a warning from the Mills camp that the defender could yet sit tight for 12 months and wait for his contract to run down and walk away on a Bosman free transfer, unless a deal is sorted out to end the saga soon.

Both Wolves and Leicester have bid for the Royals captain, but the deal has remained deadlocked for several days.

Leicester are believed to have offered slightly the better package for the 24-year-old, who they want despite signing Preston centre-back Sean St Ledger yesterday.

But Reading don't want to sell to a rival Championship club while Mills is keen to test himself in the Premier League, leaving Wolves as the favourites for his signature.
