Wolves today recalled striker Sam Vokes from Norwich – and immediately primed him for Premier League duty.
With no other fit senior striker to sit on the bench, Wales international Vokes is set to be included among the substitutes for tomorrow's clash against Fulham after his 28-day loan at the Canaries expired.
As reported in the Express & Star on April 13, the 21-year-old is needed because Steven Fletcher and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake leading the attack in Kevin Doyle's absence, boss Mick McCarthy has no other senior strikers.
Vokes came on in Norwich's 5-1 win at arch rivals Ipswich last night, third substitute's appearance for Paul Lambert's promotion-chasing Championship.
The 21-year-old played four games for Norwich, scoring once.
Vokes has stepped up his fitness after six games on loan at Sheffield United after having the first half of the season wiped out with hamstring problems.
The untried Leigh Griffiths, signed for £150,000 from Dundee in January, is Wolves' only other option up front with utility man Stephen Ward needed again at left-back in George Elokobi's absence.
