Saido Berahino features for West Brom under-23s in loss to Brighton
Saido Berahino got another 90 minutes under his belt as Albion's under-23s fell to a 2-1 defeat against Brighton.
The 23-year-old striker, who is looking to build match-fitness after more than three months out of action, turned out for the under-23s for the second week running at Crawley Town's Checkatrade Stadium last night.
Berahino has not played for the Baggies first-team since September 10 and was put on a personalised training regime, which saw him attend a conditioning camp in France, after being deemed overweight. Baggies boss Tony Pulis last week indicated the striker would not feature again until at least the New Year as he builds fitness with the under-23s. Berahino came close to netting during the opening half in Crawley but saw his shot rebound off the post.
By then the Baggies were already a goal to the good, thanks to Jonathan Leko's 14th-minute opener, which squirmed under the body of Brighton keeper Bailey Vose.
But they were pegged back six minutes before the break when James Tilley levelled from the penalty spot, after Kyle Howkins was adjudged to have fouled Henrik Bjordal.
Tom Dallison then fired home from close range 10 minutes from time to complete the comeback, as the Baggies youngsters ended the year on a losing note.
