Carvalho and Camacho deals stall as West Brom eye up Ulloa

West Brom are in danger of missing out on a defensive midfielder but are exploring the option of a late deadline day bid for Leicester striker Leonardo Ulloa.

The Baggies have given up on their pursuit of Sporting Lisbon's William Carvalho after the Portuguese team demanded £35million for the Euro 2016 winner.

Albion made a £21m bid for Carvalho but do not have the funds available to splash £30m or more on one player this summer.

The club's £15m deal with Malaga for Ignacio Camacho is also in danger of collapsing as time runs out on transfer deadline day.

The club triggered Camacho's release clause in his contract over the weekend and the 26-year-old asked to leave Malaga.

But negotiations have stalled because Malaga would like the full £15.3m up front and Albion want some of that figure to be included in add-ons for performance.

Albion are signing Watford right-back Allan Nyom for £3m this afternoon but the club are still eager to bring in at least two more new faces before the window shuts at 11pm.

Pulis is a long-term admirer of Ulloa, who is due to become available when Sporting striker Islam Slimani joins later today for a club-record £34m.
