Saido Berahino set to stay at West Brom
Saido Berahino looks set to stay at Albion for the remaining year of his contract, despite head coach Tony Pulis hoping to off-load the want-away striker.
Long-term suitors Stoke are attempting to reopen talks between the two clubs, but Albion won't allow the 23-year-old to leave unless they buy at least one permanent replacement first.
Pulis is eager to do exactly that, and he dropped a huge hint after the Middlesbrough draw that Berahino would be sold.
When asked why he was dropped to the bench, the Welshman said: "You'll see in the next 48 hours hopefully."
But the Express & Star understands that selling Berahino is now incredibly unlikely as time runs out ahead of the transfer window shutting on Wednesday night.
And the academy product, who has scored one goal in his last 27 league games, doesn't expect to be moving away from The Hawthorns.
Albion's players have been given a couple of days off because it's the international break and Berahino has gone on holiday.
Today he tweeted a photo of a pool with the words, "few days away with the family".
Albion were willing to sell Berahino in this window if a replacement striker was bought, but the club hasn't managed to bring in any forwards so far.
He was offered a bumper four-year contract earlier this summer but he rejected that deal, and now the Baggies risk losing him on a free transfer next year.
But because he's been at the club since he was 11-years-old, Albion would be in line for a large compensation fee if he joined another English club.
