West Brom want £10m Newcastle winger Andros Townsend

Albion want to offer Andros Townsend a route back into the Premier League.

Townsend was relegated with Newcastle United last season after joining the Magpies from Tottenham in January for £12million.

The winger has a £10.5m release clause in his Newcastle contract and several Premier League clubs are contemplating triggering it.

Albion are one of those interested in the England international, who just missed out on Euro 2016 after making Roy Hodgson's preliminary squad of 26, but are wary that he would prefer a move to London.

Crystal Palace have previously been linked with the winger but they already have Wilfried Zaha and Yannick Bolasie out wide, and the Baggies hope the lure of first-team football will be enough to sway his decision.

Liverpool have rejected rumours they want the 24-year-old, but Newcastle have reportedly offered to increase his £55,000-a-week salary to keep him in the North East.

Meanwhile, the Baggies are prepared to listen to offers for out-of-favour winger Callum McManaman.

The £4.75m former Wigan wide-man struggled to get into the Albion team last season.
