West Brom linked with Christian Benteke

West Brom have been linked with a shock swoop for Liverpool striker Christian Benteke this summer.

The former Aston Villa striker is out of favour at Anfield, and even though he has four years left on his contract, he could be moved on just one year after last summer's £32.5m transfer.

Reports in his native country of Belgium claim a number of clubs have shown an interest in Benteke knowing Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is eager to offload the 25-year-old, and the Baggies are believed to be leading that pack.

Albion head coach Tony Pulis is planning an overhaul of the squad this summer, and is in particular need of a striker.

Although Pulis wants Saido Berahino to sign a new contract, the 22-year-old forward could still be sold this summer, while Victor Anichebe's contract will be allowed to expire.

That could leave Salomon Rondon exposed up front with just 34-year-old Rickie Lambert and teenager Jonathan Leko as back up.

The Baggies have scored just one goal in their last five games, emphasising the dearth of goals in the team.
