The Baggies boss sparked rumours he was going to leave the Hawthorns in the summer after Albion's FA Cup exit at Reading, revealing details of a summer meeting with chairman Jeremy Peace.

At that time, Albion fans were frustrated at lacklustre performances on the pitch that included failures to register a shot on target against Newcastle, Villa and Southampton.

Three games later the Baggies are 14 points clear of the drop zone and sitting in 11th place eyeing up a tilt at the top half.

Now Pulis has confirmed that he wants to stay and build a legacy. The 58-year-old said: "I'm happy with the way things are going here.

"This is a great football club with great supporters. It needs change in lots of ways but that takes time.

"The big thing in football now is whether the managers get the time to put the groundwork in to build something solid and to put something in place that will continually grow.

"You don't always see it out and I accept that, but you need three or four years to move it forward and I would like that here."

He's still meeting Peace in the summer to discuss the direction of the club. On the agenda will be Pulis' own contract, which expires in the summer of 2017.

He said: "I'm not one to sit around and just plod along. I want things done to keep me going, I haven't lost that ambition. I could walk away tomorrow if I wanted to."

Pulis insists his comments after the Reading game were taken out of context, or rather, within the context of the team's recent poor form and the growing disgruntlement of the supporters.

He said: "I will sit down with the chairman and discuss, as I do every year, where the club's going. It was a disappointing result, me saying that then led to other things, and it's a good story.

"I speak to Jeremy three or four times a week, and have done ever since I've been at the football club so nothing's changed.

"We're on 39 points and getting closer to what we want. We're also getting closer to our meeting because the season's coming to an end.

"Whether he'll come down to Bournemouth like he did last year or whether I go over to Jersey, we'll see."
