Saido Berahino future top of agenda at Tony Pulis' dinner date with Jeremy Peace
Albion boss Tony Pulis is having a dinner-date with chairman Jeremy Peace tomorrow to thrash out the details of the club's January transfer movements.
On top of the agenda will be the future of striker Saido Berahino.
While the Baggies are yet to receive a formal offer for the 22-year-old this month, Pulis says there are plenty of discussions happening behind the scenes. But, just like summer, the final decision on Berahino is out of Pulis's hands.
"I'm having dinner with Jeremy on Friday and we can sit down and have a quick chat about the way he sees it, the way I see it, and then we can go from there," said Pulis.
"Things are bubbling behind the scenes but nothing's come to the surface," he revealed. "Jeremy will decide. I had my views in the summer, Jeremy's got his views. The chairman runs the football club when it comes to the finances and it's his decision in the end what to do with it."
Albion received four separate bids for Berahino in the summer from Spurs, but Peace was unhappy with their valuation of his club's top scorer and dug his heels in for more.
Pulis said: "He's run the football club in a very astute manner over the past 10 years. The football club has got a fantastic structure in place, it's debt-free, they make money most years.
"You have to give him enormous amounts of credit for that."
Berahino has not started since October and many observers believe Pulis would be happy to sell. But disagreements over transfer policy have not come between him and the chairman.
"He's been very honest and open about things and very straight, and I prefer that," said Pulis.
"Whether I like it or not, I like people telling me what's going on and what they're thinking.
"What I don't like is when it festers, and I think Jeremy is getting used to that.
"I have to work by the rules that are set by the football club. I'm quite happy with that, no problems."
