Jonas Olsson wants to stay at West Brom
West Brom defender Jonas Olsson has hinted that he would like to extend his contract.
The long-serving Sweden international has a year remaining on his current deal, with the Baggies deciding on his future this summer.
But the 32-year-old centre-back has opened the door to a possible extension by insisting that he wants to be part of the Baggies' plans "for some time yet."
He said: "There are a lot of factors. It's not something I am thinking about during the season, I'm just focusing on our games and then we will see what happens.
"I have been here for seven years because it's a good club and I enjoy being part of it, so hopefully I will be part of it for some time yet."
Olsson has made 217 appearances for Albion since signing for Tony Mowbray in 2008 and was a key member of the team under him, Roberto Di Matteo, Roy Hodgson and Steve Clarke.
But he has slipped down the pecking order and missed much of this season after Achilles surgery.
Albion must decide this summer whether to offer Olsson a new deal, sell him to recoup a fee or allow him to run down his contract and become a free agent.
Olsson said: "There haven't been any talks but this has been a lost season for me really.
"But I've got some minutes under the new gaffer and I'm just focusing on seeing the season out, seeing us safe and hopefully playing my part in that and then in the summer we will see.
"I have enjoyed my time here and I am still enjoying it."
After playing in a clean sheet at Manchester United last weekend, Olsson hopes to keep his place against struggling Newcastle at St James' Park tomorrow.
He added: "It is always tough up there, but we're on a high. We've got seven points out of nine against some tough sides."
