Assistant boss Dave Kemp claims record signing Brown Ideye has a fresh start with Albion after his second goal in as many games inspired a priceless win against Swansea.

Ideye scored one goal and made another as the Baggies beat the Swans 2-0 at The Hawthorns last night.

And assistant head coach Kemp hailed the impact of the £10m Nigerian.

"He came here with a big fee on his head and great expectations and he's had to deal with that," said Kemp.

"He's got himself into the team now and he's playing well.

"I don't know what has happened in the past, all we're concerned about is what he's going to do in the future.

"He is a new signing as far as we're concerned because he hadn't been in the team that much and hopefully now he can stay in and keep doing well.

"We are pleased he scored and he had a very good game.

"He made an impact at Burnley and last night he made an impact over the whole 90 minutes.

"He scored a very good goal and had a big role in the second goal."

The Baggies climbed to 14th in the Premier League table with Ideye and Saido Berahino netting on 60 and 74 minutes respectively to cap their best display so far under Pulis.

Ideye grabbed his second goal in as many games to take his Premier League tally to three in a season where he has struggled to live up to the big price tag.

And Berahino, who had teed up Ideye, netted his 15th of the campaign to underline his own return to form.

It means the Baggies have lost just once in seven games under Pulis, who has won two of his three home Premier League matches in charge.

Kemp said: "Without a doubt that was our best performance. We've had parts of games where we've been good but last night we were good for virtually the whole game."

Swansea boss Garry Monk said: "We didn't play with any tempo or intensity all night. We need that in our game and we didn't show it."

"They deserved to win and we didn't deserve anything from the game so we have no complaints."
