The Nigeria international, who has failed to make any impact with Albion, was poised to join big-spending Qatari club Al-Gharafa in a deal worth around £5million.

The Baggies agreed to pay Dynamo Kiev £10million for the forward in the summer, although it's now believed a sizable portion of that fee was in add-ons.

They would have not been triggered, due to the player's poor performances. The clubs were today thrashing out a deal on the structure for Al-Gharafa's payments, but the moved looked set to be completed.

Albion look set to land West Ham striker Carlton Cole on a free transfer to replace Ideye, with Samaras also on the way out after just eight appearances.

The misfiring summer signing is set to join big-spending Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal on loan until the end of the season. They have an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.

He has played just eight times for the first team including five league games and three cup matches, all without finding the net.

Ideye and Samaras would make it four to leave during this transfer window. Silvestre Varela has completed a loan switch to Serie A strugglers Parma.

And Sebastian Blanco is set for a return to his native Argentina, with San Lorenzo leading the chase for the 26-year-old's signature.
