The Spaniard left The Hawthorns yesterday by mutual consent after less than five months in the job and just three wins in 17 games.

But he said today: "I didn't want to betray my style of football"

"The Premier League is a wonderful experience. The organisation is fantastic. Everybody should try this.

"But English people live football in a different way; not better, just different.

"And I couldn't betray the way I understand football should be (played). They invented this game and they have their own style.

"I'm proud and happy because West Bromwich Albion achieved safety despite of the difficulties we went through: Anelka, important players were sold, I lost my best strikers in a week, we had a difficult calendar too."
