West Brom's Chris Brunt happy with left-back role

Captain Chris Brunt today insisted he is happy to switch to left-back to help Albion deal with their injury problems and seal Premier League survival.

He was forced to move into the back-four in the first half of Saturday's 1-0 win against West Ham when Steven Reid limped off with a groin injury. And, with Reid and Liam Ridgewell both set to miss Sunday's trip to Arsenal, Brunt seems certain to start at left-back.

"It's a team game and I'll go wherever I'm asked to go and do a job," he said.

"I was pleased enough with my own performance at left-back and I am just glad to get over the line, and to be involved in a back-four that kept a clean sheet – that's probably the first time that's ever happened to me.

"Even at 29 you never stop achieving firsts!

"I thought about it in the week when the manager spoke to me and we weighed things up, but circumstances dictate things during the game and you do your best for the team."
