Billy Jones calls for calm ahead of Hammers clash
Billy Jones says Albion will go all out for victory tomorrow – but he insists their clash with West Ham is not 'win or bust'.
The full-back looks set to keep his place against the Hammers after returning from injury in Monday's 3-1 defeat at Manchester City.
And, while he knows a win against Sam Allardyce's side would take the Baggies a huge step closer to Premier League safety, he is adamant the game will not make or break their bid for survival.
"We know it's a massive opportunity," said Jones, who could switch to left-back if Pepe Mel abandons his plan to move captain Chris Brunt into defence.
"In any home game you obviously have a better chance, you feel, of getting something.
"We're going all out to win this weekend, like we do for every game, and we're remaining positive.
"If it's not to be this weekend then we're still going to remain confident, be positive and go into those remaining three games knowing that we've done the job at hard places to go this season.
"Swansea away for us is a bit of a bogey ground and we got a great win there and the same with Carrow Road.
"The belief will still be there that we can turn it around. But it would just be great going into this game and getting the win."
The Hammers are all-but safe from relegation with 37 points – four more than the Baggies – as they head for The Hawthorns looking to ease pressure on boss Sam Allardyce, whose style of play has attracted criticism from fans.
Jones is geared up for a tough test against the East London side. "They're going to be at it and they're going to be organised," said Jones. "Sam Allardyce's teams usually are.
"They've got a lot of clean sheets this year and that shows that from the front they defend well and as a group.
"We know it's going to be a really tough game. But we're just concentrating more on ourselves and what we're going to do. We've obviously covered their strengths and weaknesses and what we can exploit during the game, but we're just concentrating on what we can do to get a positive result."
Albion are looking to improve on their last two home games, both drawn 3-3 after throwing away handy leads against Cardiff and Tottenham.
But Jones is calling for another show of support from the Hawthorns faithful tomorrow.
"You can sense when the crowd is really on it," said the former Crewe and Preston man.
"The last couple of home games, it's like they have taken it upon themselves knowing they're massive games for us as a club. They've really, really been on it.
"Even when the results haven't been what they should have been – we know as a group they should have been two home wins – at the end when we've been really, really disappointed they've been there at the final whistle knowing we're all in it together.
"We know where we are, we know what we need to do, we know we've got four games left, four winnable games.
"But we're just concentrating on getting a win as soon as possible and that's West Ham at home.
"The position we're in, we can't afford to dwell on things, be negative and feel sorry for ourselves.
"We know every game is massive now and we need to be really at it."
