The Spaniard, who will be presented to the media tomorrow, took his first training session yesterday before tweeting his satisfaction with his new charges.

And Mulumbu claims Mel made himself understood despite his limited grasp of English.

"It was quite hard for him because he doesn't speak English but football is a universal language and it was quite easy for him to show us," said Mulumbu.

"We tried to translate his message through Claudio (Yacob) and Diego (Lugano) but it's easy when you play football.

"He can show you what he wants with his body language and it was a good first session.

"It was quite exciting. He's Spanish so he wants to play good football and he showed us the tactics he wants to put in."
